Robert W. Brooks: Shame on politicians who didn’t support Arizona’s texting ban
Editor: It was very rewarding to read that Senate Bill 2318 regarding the comprehensive state ban on texting and driving passed.
I am extremely disappointed in the legislators who chose not to support this bill. All of those voting no were Republicans. All Democratic legislators voted for passage.
I am in the process of contacting each and every representative and senator who voted against HB 2318 and am asking the following question: “What was your reason(s) for not passing this legislation knowing that many injuries and deaths will be prevented by effective education and enforcement of this bill?” As of this writing, I have not received a single response; hopefully, some of these legislators will exhibit enough transparency to offer an answer to my question.
