Stamford resident wins $1.5M on scratch-off ticket

February 1, 2019

There’s a new millionaire in Stamford.

That’s because on Wednesday, Carmen Chavez Martinez cashed in a winning Connecticut Millionaires Club ticket.

Martinez chose to take a lump sum payment of $1.5 million.

The other option was a $2 million annuity paid over time.

Unlike other winners who agreed to have their photo taken and be interviewed by lotter officials for a Winners Story article, Martinez declined.

CT Lottery releases the winner’s name and place of residence, date of claim, game played, prize amount won, and the selling retailer’s name and location. A winner’s home or street address and phone number is never published, and will not be disclosed unless required by law.

Martinez bought the lucky ticket at Shippan Candies in Stamford.

Connecticut Millionaires Club is a $20 scratch-off ticket.

The game has a total of five top $2 Million Annuity prizes. As of Thursday, there were two unclaimed top prizes.

The second top prize on the game is worth $100,000. There are six $100,000 prizes, three of which remain unclaimed.
