Man, 18, arrested in connection with Dec. chase, gunfight
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina police have arrested an 18-year-old in connection with a police chase and gunfight that ended when a sheriff’s deputy ran his car head-on into the suspect’s car.
The Herald Journal reports that Jerel Nathaniel Mosley of Lyman remains in the Spartanburg County Detention Center, where he was taken after being discharged from a hospital Dec. 13.
He faces kidnapping, armed robbery and other charges in a Dec. 7 holdup, gunfight and 6-mile (10-kilometer) chase.
Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright said then that deputies answered a report of a robbery with shots fired at a McDonald’s. The gunman shot at deputies and police officers as he drove, and the gunfight continued after the crash.
