BISMARCK, N.D. _ Landowners and the sculptor of the Enchanted Highway in western North Dakota have resolved a dispute concerning liability and the lease linked to the statuary road’s flagship sculpture. In 2017, Seth and Kayla O’Donnell closed public access to the 110-foot-tall (3,300 centimeters), 78-ton carving on their property. Sculptor Gary Greff subsequently sued the pair. The Bismarck Tribune reports that the two parties resolved the dispute outside of court in March before the court trial in mid-April. SENT: 300 words.


MINOT, N.D. _ A geyser of water surging through a gopher hole threatened to burst a natural dike in the city. A man who sought much needed sleep following endless hours of sandbagging was abruptly tossed into the air. A group of about 30 angry residents, shovels in hand and intent on cutting away a dike, were stopped by authorities. The above events occurred during the 1969 flood that ravaged Minot and other communities along the Souris River. It was an April never to be forgotten by those who experienced it. MADISON, Wis. _ Wisconsin lawmakers have introduced a bill that seeks to elevate the status of two trails, therefore providing access to more funding to expand and maintain the routes. Wisconsin Public Radio reports that the legislation would designate the Ice Age and North Country national scenic trails as units of the National Park Service. The North Country National Scenic Trail stretches from New York to North Dakota. SENT: 350 words.
