FREEHOLD _ Freehold Raceway hopes to show that it can succeed as the third horse racing track to cross the finish line in New Jersey’s red-hot sports betting market. The track just off Route 9 in western Monmouth County has a sports betting license from the state Racing Commission and is looking for a vendor to run a sports book. Freehold does not have a target date to begin sports betting, but a 2019 launch date seems likely. It still needs approval from the state Division of Gaming Enforcement. By Wayne Parry. _ DRUG RING-DOCTOR SENTENCED _ A businessman has been sentenced to seven years in prison for conspiring with a doctor to provide an illegal drug ring with thousands of opioid pills.

_ HOBOKEN WATERFRONT DISPUTE _ Hudson County officials have written a letter to Gov. Phil Murphy urging him to oppose a plan to move a ferry refueling depot to a spot on the Hoboken waterfront where a public park has been envisioned.

_ HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING-HAZING ARRESTS _ Four New Jersey high school students have been arrested in connection with a hazing incident involving the school wrestling team.

_ DRUG RING BUST _ An eight-month investigation in Newark has yielded several arrests in what authorities are calling a major drug ring.

_ POLICE OFFICER-FATAL ACCIDENT _ A judge has sentenced a former New Jersey police officer to 9 ½ years in prison for leaving the scene of a fatal crash.
