Two charged in theft of truck with three-week-old Lumberton baby inside
A man and woman have been charged in connection with the Monday night theft of a car with an infant inside.
Authorities said Brian Hardin, 44, of Singletary Church Road, stole a Ford F-150 pick-up truck with a three-week-old baby inside from a home at 1414 Mimosa Street just before 9 p.m. Monday.
Police said the truck was spotted about 10 minutes later in the parking lot of Billy Cox’s Grocery on N.C. Highway 41 after Hardin and another suspect walked away from the vehicle, leaving the baby inside unharmed.
Authorities said Hardin was identified as a suspect in the case following an attempted robbery at a Walmart the same night as the truck was stolen.
Hardin was charged with felony larceny, second-degree kidnapping, larceny of a firearm and conspiracy to commit second-degree kidnapping. He was being held at the Bladen County Detention Center under $100,000 secured bond.
Alisha Kaye Hunt, 38, of Hegepeth Circle was also charged with felony larceny, second-degree kidnapping, larceny of a firearm and conspiracy to commit second-degree kidnapping in connection with the case.
Hunt was being held at the Robeson County Detention Center under $250,000 secured bond.
