WEST ORANGE, N.J. (AP) — Three New Jersey state troopers responding to a highway accident were injured after a dump truck crashed into emergency vehicles.

The accident occurred Tuesday morning on eastbound Interstate 280 in West Orange as troopers were investigating an accident.

The troopers were taken to local hospitals. State police say two troopers suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and a third had minor injuries. Their names weren’t disclosed.

Several other people at the scene at the time of the crash weren’t seriously injured.

Footage from the scene showed a dump truck lying partially on its side against the guardrail of the highway. Photos showed the front of the dump truck pushed up against the back of an ambulance.

Eastbound lanes of the highway were still shut down by mid-afternoon.
