WHAT’S AT STAKE
Alabama is trying to continue toward the SEC championship game and a possible fourth consecutive playoff berth. The Tigers could establish themselves as serious SEC West contenders and win their fourth straight game since getting upset by Troy.
LSU’s ground game against Alabama’s defense, which leads the nation at stopping the run. The Tigers are coming off a 393-yard rushing performance against Mississippi. Alabama has allowed only two touchdowns on the ground while giving up 66.4 yards per game.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
LSU: RB Derrius Guice is coming off a 276-yard performance against Mississippi, making him the first SEC player to post three 250-yard rushing performances in a career. He’s the No. 2 rusher in the SEC, averaging 101.6 yards per game. Guice only logged two carries in last season’s game but Alabama held his predecessor Leonard Fournette to 66 yards on 36 carries the past two meetings combined.
Alabama: QB Jalen Hurts ran for a fourth-quarter touchdown and 114 yards in last year’s 10-0 win. The Maxwell Award semifinalist has already tied Harry Gilmer’s 70-year-old school record for a quarterback with 19 rushing touchdowns.
