La Porte Little Theatre will hold auditions for ‘Joseph’

July 28, 2018

La PORTE — La Porte Little Theatre Club, 218 A St., will host auditions for the Andrew Lloyd Webber-Tim Rice rock opera “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” starting Thursday.

Men, women and children are needed, as well as volunteers interested in helping with the show.

Auditions are from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and noon to 2 p.m. Aug. 4, at the theater.

Nick Bello is the director and Andrew Tallackson the music director. Matt Nelson will conduct the children’s chorus, which will include youth in grades second through eight. Tim Gartland is producing the show.

Because the production is all music, no prepared monologues are required. However, a vocal audition is part of the process. If possible, the directors would like men/boys to sing the first eight measures or so of “Close Every Door,” and for women/girls to sing the first eight measures or so of “Jacob & Sons.” Piano accompaniment will be available.

Performances are Oct. 12-14 and 19-21. Tickets become available one month prior to opening night at www.laportelittletheatreclub.com. Email lpltc@yahoo.com with questions.
