“We are very proud that our organization’s commitment to excellence in hospice care was recognized,” says Susan Ponder-Stansel, President and Chief Executive Officer of Community Hospice & Palliative Care. “Our staff works hard to provide quality care to each patient and family we serve. Our community can rest assured that it has a hospice that provides superior service and care, and will be there to support them if they are ever facing advanced illness.”

Honorees were selected based on caregivers’ evaluations on the Hospice Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) survey assessing hospices on a set of 24 quality indicator measures, with data from October 2017 through September 2018. Performance scores were aggregated from all completed surveys and compared with a National Performance Score calculated on a question-by-question basis from all hospices in the HEALTHCARE first  Hospice CAHPS database. Hospice Honors are awarded to hospices that scored above this national average on 20 of the evaluated questions.

Misty Skinner, Executive VP of Services of HEALTHCARE first says, “Based on feedback from caregivers themselves, our annual Hospice Honors recognizes agencies who truly stand out based on the level of care and commitment displayed to their patients and their caregivers.”

Since 1979, Community Hospice & Palliative Care’s mission has been to improve the quality of life for patients and caregivers and to be the Compassionate Guide for end-of-life care. Hospice Honors recognizes the unparalleled care provided by the nationally-recognized hospice’s nearly 2,000 staff and volunteers to over 1,600 patients daily throughout 16 counties in Northeast and North Central Florida.
