NEW YORK (AP) _ Joe Griffin scored a game-high 39 points and sophomore Jason Feeley matched his career best with 30 as Long Island University overtook St. Francis (NY) 113-109 in overtime on Saturday.
Dave Masciale followed with 27 points for the Blackbirds (9-17, 8-10 Northeast Conference), who trailed 58-53 at halftime.
Haluk Ayata topped the Terriers (9-17, 5-13) with 28, 21 in the first half. Abdu-Allah Torrence added 20 and a game-high 11 rbeounds.
Feeley’s 5-foot jumper with 55 seconds to go in overtime put LIU in front to stay, 110-108. He added one foul shot 40 seconds later and Ayata hit once from the foul line with 11 seconds left to complete the game’s scoring.
Andre Gill of LIU hit a layup with 19 seconds remaining in regulation to send the game into overtime, 96-96.
The win means LIU will host Robert Morris in the first round of the conference playoffs Monday night while the Terriers travel to St. Francis (Pa.) the same night.
