Sporting wins 4-0 at Penafiel in Portugal

LISBON, Portugal (AP) — Sporting Lisbon scored four times in a 17-minute span in the second half to win 4-0 at Penafiel in the Portuguese league on Saturday.

Penafiel resisted until the 69th minute when Islam Slimani scored his first of two goals.

Slimani opened the scoring with a header from Jefferson’s cross, and the striker added another goal two minutes later.

Fredy Montero scored Sporting’s third goal in the 82nd before he passed for Nani to cap the win in the 85th.

The win lifted it into provisional third place.

On Tuesday, Sporting lost 1-0 to Chelsea in the Champions League.

Penafiel was left with one win in seven rounds.
