Wet, rainy weather forecasted for Aiken through weekend
The celebration of the new year is going to be a soggy one, according to upcoming weather predictions for Aiken County and the greater CSRA.
The National Weather Service forecasts a 90 percent chance of rain Friday, Dec. 28, with temperatures spiking to around 71 degrees. According to The Weather Channel, thunderstorms will also be likely throughout Friday.
The rain is expected to let up Saturday, but is expected to pick up again Sunday, Dec. 30, and continue off and on throughout most of the coming week.
For those making outdoor plans for the countdown to 2019 on New Year’s Eve, keep an eye on the weather forecast and be prepared to move indoors. Some outdoor holiday events may also be canceled due to the weather.
Some flooding may occur in flood-prone areas of Aiken into next week.
Temperatures are expected to drop again after New Year’s Day.
The rain is expected let up by Friday, Jan. 4, and the following weekend is expected to be cold and sunny.
