American Eagle: Fiscal 1Q Earnings Snapshot
PITTSBURGH (AP) _ American Eagle Outfitters Inc. (AEO) on Wednesday reported fiscal first-quarter earnings of $40.8 million.
On a per-share basis, the Pittsburgh-based company said it had profit of 23 cents. Earnings, adjusted for restructuring costs, were 24 cents per share.
The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 21 cents per share.
The teen clothing retailer posted revenue of $886.3 million in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $855.2 million.
For the current quarter ending in August, American Eagle expects its per-share earnings to range from 30 cents to 32 cents.
American Eagle shares have dropped roughly 4% since the beginning of the year. The stock has fallen 21% in the last 12 months.
