TRUSSVILLE, Ala. (AP) _ Jerome Barker, whose son capped his career last season as the winningest quarterback in University of Alabama history, died Sunday of an apparent heart attack. He was 51.

``He and (wife) Barbara were on their way to worship with us when the heart attack occurred,″ said Rick Ousley, pastor at The Church at Brook Hills. ``We were called at the church and several of our people went out to be with them.″

Jay Barker finished his Alabama career 35-2-1 as a starter.

He was participating in an NFL scouting combine at Indianapolis Sunday and returned home.

Funeral arrangements were pending.
