Southern Indiana 98, South Dakota 77

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) _ Tyrone Tate scored 20 points as Southern Indiana beat South Dakota 98-77 Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II tournament.

Trailing by 14 points, South Dakota (24-6) rallied to pull within 74-67 with 6:40 left. But Tate scored seven points in the next four minutes, including a 3-pointer, to help Southern Indiana pull away.

Randy Rosenquist South Dakota with 23 points.

Southern Indiana (27-3) was 11-of-18 from 3-pointer range, including four by Todd Jones.

South Dakota took a 29-20 lead in the first half, but Southern Indiana used a 14-3 run to gain a 52-42 halftime advantage.
