Police seek leads in Monday homicide

September 12, 2018

Police are looking for more information after a Rochester man was shot and killed after answering his door at 4 a.m. Monday.

Brandon Matthew Arndt, 38, of Rochester, was found shot in the head at the rear door of the manufactured home where he lived at Bob’s Trailer Court, 1915 Marion Road SE, lot 14.

Police said Monday they had no known witnesses except for the caller, a woman who was in a bedroom at the home at the time of the incident. The woman reported hearing someone knock and then a loud bang. She found Arndt on the floor near the door and called 911.

Rochester Police, the Rochester Fire Department and Gold Cross paramedics responded to the scene and rendered medical aid, but Arndt was declared dead at the scene.

Police said Monday little else is known about incident and they have no known witnesses. Neighbors in the trailer court and RV park, who declined to be identified, said they believe Arndt was targeted.

Police executed a search warrant at the home Monday. The Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s office also responded to the scene. An autopsy is expected to be conducted Tuesday, according to Rochester Police Capt. John Sherwin.

The death is the fifth homicide in Rochester this year.

Police ask anyone with information on the incident contact them at 507-328-6800 or at 1-800-222-TIPS.
