Brand, Others Out with Injuries

March 17, 2001

CHICAGO (AP) _ Chicago Bulls forward Elton Brand, who played only nine minutes Wednesday night against Philadelphia, missed Friday night’s game against Seattle with tendinitis in his left knee.

The Bulls also announced prior to the game that forward Ron Artest would not play a second straight game due to a right knee strain.

Chicago had already lost Michael Ruffin to a broken bone in his left hand, placing the forward on the injured list earlier Friday.

In addition, the health of Chicago’s starting backcourt was suspect, as guards Ron Mercer and Bryce Drew both made gametime decisions whether to play. Mercer complained of flu-like symptoms and Drew has a right hamstring pull.
