Police respond to downtown apartment building
A large police presence is in the area of 19th Street and Avenue A.
Star-Herald staff on scene report more than 10 law enforcement vehicles from the Scottsbluff Police Department, Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Department, Gering Police Department, Nebraska State Patrol and even a Nebraska Game and Parks.
A resident of the apartment building at 19th and Avenue A says that some residents were asked to evacuate the building, but were only told that “a situation” was underway. People observing the scene said that police arrived in the area at about 7 p.m.
Duncan Baker, owner of the property, told the Star-Herald that a resident had contacted police after allegedly witnessing two people in a stairwell. One of the persons was reported to have a weapon.
Officers began leaving the scene at about 8:55 p.m.Officers told the Star-Herald that they were unable to answer questions and told the Star-Herald that a press release would be issued on the incident and we’ll update this story with information as it is released.
