Baby Born to Prime Minister’s Daughter-in-law
DALLAS (AP) _ British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher became a grandmother this week with the birth of a boy to her daughter-in-law.
Diane Thatcher, 28, wife of Mark Thatcher, the prime minister’s 35-year-old son, had a normal delivery without complications Tuesday at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, said hospital spokeswoman Ginger Seay.
The healthy 7-pound, 2-ounce baby and mother were released from the hospital Thursday, she said.
The couple, who live in Rockwall, a Dallas suburb, named the child Michael, Ms. Seay said.
Ms. Seay said she didn’t know who, if anybody, visited the mother and baby at the hospital, but described the stay as ″very quiet.″
An official at the British Embassy in Washington, D.C., said ″none of us here know of any plans for a visit″ anytime soon from the prime minister. ″If there were definite plans, we’d know.″
Mrs. Thatcher has made several private, unofficial visits to Dallas since her son moved to Texas. The couple married in 1987.
