Twice-postponed Florence Holiday Parade will start at 11 a.m. Saturday
FLORENCE – The Florence Holiday Parade is still scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday.
Parade Vice Chairwoman Pat Gibson-Hye Moore said Thursday afternoon that the parade is planned to go on as scheduled. However, she added that the organizers are still attempting to work out the details of the parade, including the changes necessitated by moving the parade from before Christmas to after Christmas.
Gibson-Hye Moore added that the 2018 version of the parade is the “the hardest year ever.”
She also said that registration numbers for the parade were good, but she is sure that the parade will lose some participants and viewers because of the date changes the parade has undergone this year.
The parade, a Christmas tradition in Florence, was originally scheduled for Dec. 8, but it was moved to Dec. 15 because of weather. More weather forced the parade to move from Dec. 15 to Saturday.
The parade will start at the intersection of West Evans and Edisto streets, and it will end at the Business Technological Center (BTC) Building at the corner of N.B. Baroody and East Evans streets.
