Tennessee woman charged with trying to burn adult and child
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A Tennessee woman has been arrested for allegedly attempting to set a mobile home on fire with another adult and a child inside it.
Court records say 39-year-old Sarah Gladys Bowling of Knoxville was arrested by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday after attempting to burn down her trailer with her fiance’s daughter and granddaughter inside.
The News Sentinel reports Bowling admitted to setting a mattress on fire, while the other woman was in the shower, according to criminal records. The victim noticed the burning mattress when she got out of the shower and escaped with her 3-year-old daughter.
She has been charged with one count of aggravated arson and two counts of attempted first degree murder. Bowling is being held on a combined bond of $250,000.
