Lady Wildcats soccer set to kick it up a notch after initial year in 6A
When Tomball Memorial girls head soccer coach Elizabeth Cavazos took over the program three years ago, the team faced opponents with less than 2,100 in enrollment in Class 5A.
This past year was the Lady Wildcats’ inaugural season in Class 6A where they competed against schools with anywhere from 2,400-3,500 students.
The squad didn’t miss a beat in what was supposed to be a transitioning period.
“We did a lot of great things,” third-year head coach Cavazos said. “Maybe we caught some people by surprise with the quality and level of team that we had.”
Tomball Memorial (15-5-6, 10-2-4) finished third in District 14-6A behind first-place Cy Woods and second-place Cy Ranch. Bridgeland placed fourth, the program’s first-ever playoff berth in its first varsity season.
