Israeli President Hospitalized
JERUSALEM (AP) _ Israeli President Ezer Weizman was hospitalized today with severe inflammation of the gall bladder, his personal physician said.
Weizman, who is 75, was admitted to Jerusalem’s Hadassah Hospital. The president had a temperature but was in stable condition, said his doctor, Avi Rifkind.
``It is a painful condition but one gets over it,″ Rifkind said.
Weizman has served as Israel’s president since 1993 and has four years remaining of his second five-year term. The presidency is a largely ceremonial post, and the outspoken Weizman has been criticized for repeatedly stepping into the political fray.
