Delaware teen accused of bringing BB gun to school, threats
SMYRNA, Del. (AP) — A Delaware high school student is accused of bringing a BB gun to school and threatening another student.
News outlets cite a release from Smyrna police saying a concerned parent reported a 15-year-old boy having a handgun on Smyrna High School grounds on Tuesday. An investigation determined the suspect showed the weapon to multiple students and threatened to shoot someone during an argument in the cafeteria.
A search yielded a small carbon dioxide-propelled BB handgun in the suspect’s bedroom. The boy was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a weapon in a school safety zone and terroristic threatening and is being held in a juvenile detention center on $5,000 bond.
A release from the school district says the student was new to the district this year.
