Brownsville, Home Depot collecting recycled Christmas trees

The City of Brownsville Parks and Recreation Department is teaming up with Home Depot for a Christmas tree recycling project.

The two invite the community to drop off their Christmas trees at the Christmas Tree Recycling Event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Jan. 5. at either Home Depot Store in Brownsville.

Keep Brownsville Beautiful youth volunteers will assist the recycling project. The public is encourage to remove all decorations, lights and tinsel before dropping for Christmas trees.

Officials say the trees will be recycled, chipped into mulch, and used at city parks and beautification projects.
