WHO’S WHERE FOR INDEPENDENCE DAY TV

NEW YORK (AP) — Sara Evans is declining comment in advance about her appearance today at the White House, saying she’s too busy with traveling and rehearsals. Evans, along with pianist Lola Astanova and “American Idol” finalists Jonny Brenns and Jax, will perform for President Donald Trump and his wife, Melania, on the White House’s South Lawn. The concert will be carried on the Hallmark Channel. Astanova says the event is not political, but “about our nation’s birthday.” Meanwhile, The Beach Boys, Jimmy Buffett, Chita Rivera, Pentatonix, Luke Combs, CeCe Winans, Lauren Alaina and The Temptations will perform just down the road in front of the Capitol. That will be carried live on PBS. In New York, Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton, Ricky Martin, Keith Urban and American Authors will perform as part of the Macy’s 4th of July Concert on NBC.

LAWYER CAUGHT ON TAPE SAYING MEEK MILL SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN NEW TRIAL

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A lawyer representing the Philadelphia judge overseeing Meek Mill’s case was caught in an off-the-record conversation saying the judge was wrong not to give Mill a new trial. Philly.com reports an Amazon documentary film crew financed by Mill’s record label recorded the conversation with attorney Charles Peruto Junior. A Mill supporter shared it with a reporter. Peruto says he does not believe he said anything derogatory about Judge Genece Brinkley. On the tape, Peruto says if he was the judge, Mill would have gotten a new trial and Brinkley looks “awful” by not granting it. Mill’s attorneys have been trying to get Brinkley removed from his drug and gun case from 2008, saying she has been biased against him.

Guitarist Ryan Holladay made his first appearance on the Opry stage as a five-year-old prodigy. Levon’s Opry performance fell on Holladay’s 26th birthday. He writes on Instagram he’d call his birthday “a complete success” and “a hard birthday to top.”

LILY ALLEN: FROM CHAOS TO “PHOENIX RISING”

PARIS (AP) — Lily Allen says her new album, “No Shame,” parallels her life. It starts out chaotic and ends on an up note. Allen says the album chronicles the breakdown of her marriage, which is why it starts out as a mess. She says then it gets sad, and then it becomes a “phoenix rising.” She admits it’s a cathartic process and if it wasn’t, there would not be much point in being an artist.
