MIDDLETON, Mass. (AP) — A 24-year-old Middleton man has been arrested in connection with a double shooting that sent two people to the hospital.

Police say Michael MacMullin shot a man in the torso just after 6 a.m. Sunday and fled area after being shot in the arm by someone else, who has not been named. Police later found MacMullin inside a home nearby and transported him to Beverly Hospital.

Police say MacMullin was arrested early Sunday night on a warrant for charges including assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault with attempt to commit murder. MacMullin remained at the hospital under guard.

Police tell The Salem News (http://bit.ly/1eX4snN ) that two different guns were used, but would not comment on a possible motive.

It could be determined whether MacMullin had a lawyer.
