Catherine Erickson -- Arden Hills

February 10, 2019

Catherine “Cappy” Marceau Erickson passed away peacefully on Feb. 4, 2019, at Presbyterian Homes Johanna Shores in Arden Hills with her loving husband of 71 years, Gunn, at her side.

She was born on Feb. 25, 1926, in Rochester to Horace and Mae Doty, and had two older sisters who preceded her in death.

Cappy lived a wonderful life! She grew up fishing, hunting and loving the outdoors — passions she pursued throughout her life. After high school, she completed a program at Miss Wood’s Training School for Young Children in Minneapolis in 1946 and enjoyed teaching preschool prior to raising her own family. After raising five sons, she then earned a BA in Music Composition from Winona State University. Cappy was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. During her life she lived primarily in Rochester and Venice, Fla.

Cappy is survived by her husband, Odean “Gunn” Erickson; sons, Peter (Jan), Gunnar (Susan), Chris (Nancy), Jason (Debbie) and Ford (Lisa); eight grandchildren, Thor, Kate, Jens, Eleanor, Shane, Jill, Kai and Cody; and five great-grandchildren.

The family extends its gratitude to all the caring, committed nurses and health care providers at St. Andrew’s Village, Johanna Shores and Intrepid Hospice.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, Feb. 17, in the Johanna Shores Care Center Chapel in Arden Hills. Visitation will be at 3:30 p.m. with the service at 4:30 p.m. Food and fellowship to follow.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial to the Presbyterian Homes Foundation (651-631-6408) or Intrepid Hospice (651-633-6404).
