2 Nevada inmates die on same day in state prison infirmary
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Officials say two Nevada prison inmates died on the same day in the state corrections infirmary in Carson City.
The Nevada Department of Corrections says 43-year-old John Ibarra and 66-year-old Gerald Devine died Sunday at the medical facility at Northern Nevada Correctional Center. A prison spokeswoman says the deaths were not related.
Prison spokeswoman Brooke Santina said Tuesday the deaths were not related.
Ibarra had been sentenced in October 2016 to up to six years in prison for violating parole in a sexual coercion case in Las Vegas.
Devine had been serving a 10-to-25-year sentence since April 2010 for his conviction in Reno of felony drug trafficking.
The Carson City sheriff’s office was handling autopsies for both men.
