LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) _ Venezuela's Amleto Monacelli won his first U.S. PBA title Saturday by beating Mark Roth in the title match of the $175,000 Showboat Invitational.

Monacelli's 216-189 win over Roth, a PBA Hall of Famer, gave him his second PBA Tour championship, but his first in the United States. His first PBA crown came in the Japan Cup last September.

Monacelli, the third seed, survived a 163 in his first game against Gip Lentine, who struggled to a 153 after winning the opening match.

''The lanes started to change and I didn't make the right move. Then I found a great shot,'' Monacelli said. ''I knew the key was to win the first game.''

Moacelli beat Mark Williams, the second seed, 218-174, then coasted past Roth when the top seed failed to convert a 2-10 split in the eighth frame.
