Woodworth To Head NHL Enterprises
NEW YORK (AP) _ Richie Woodworth, a former member of the U.S. Ski Team, was hired as president of NHL Enterprises on Thursday.
Woodworth, the top ranking American skier in 1981 and a member of the U.S. team from 1973-78, will be responsible for overseeing league marketing and merchandise, including NHL brand development, licensing, sponsorship programs and publishing.
``Richie comes to the league with extensive experience in building international brands,″ commissioner Gary Bettman said. ``He will work with our marketing and other business partners to continue to build greater NHL exposure and marketing opportunities as we further grow our audience on a worldwide basis. Richie has roots in hockey and a passion for the game.″
Woodworth replaces Rick Dudley, who left in 1998.
Woodworth was president and chief executive officer of the Greg Norman collection, a division of Reebok International, from September 1991 until August.
