Two arrested since Tuesday
On Tuesday, a deputy with the Platte County Sheriff’s Office pulled over a vehicle for having a broken headlight while driving north of Columbus along Route 81. The driver, Edgar Barajas-Lopez, of Norfolk, was then arrested for driving under a suspended driver’s licence and false reporting, according to Sheriff Ed Wemhoff.
Lopez has since posted his $1,000 bail bond and been released from police custody, according to Lt. Dave Westfall of the Platte County detention facility. His court date has been scheduled for Feb. 25.
On Wednesday, Bryon Knapp, of Creston, was arrested at a rural Creston residence without incident. He was wanted on a Colfax County warrant, according to Wemhoff.
Knapp has since posted his $2,500 bail bond and been released from police custody, according to Westfall. His court date has been scheduled for Feb. 6.
In other news:
A state patrol officer contacted the Platte County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday about a large piece of lumber that was on the northbound section of Highway 81, just north of Columbus. A deputy was dispatched and removed the debris, according to Wemhoff.
