WASHINGTON (AP) _ More than 32,000 chenille sweaters are being recalled because federal authorities say they are dangerously flammable.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission said Wednesday the soft-textured sweaters were sold by major retailers _ including Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, Nordstrom, Lord & Tayor, Neiman Marcus and Limited Too _ as well as small boutiques nationwide, CPSC said.

Made in a variety of colors in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and the United States, the sweaters sold for between $38 and $130 nationwide. Nearly all are 65 percent rayon and 35 percent nylon.

The agency urged consumers to stop wearing sweaters they believe may be involved in the recall and to return them to the retailer where they were purchased.

The recall covers some sweaters under these brand names and RN numbers: BCBG Maxazeria, 80734; 525 Made in America, 61680; Maille Ishyu, 78635; Sisters, 84332; Karen Kane Lifestyle Petite, 59168; Karen Kane Lifestyle, 59168; Karen Kane, 59168; The Limited, 54867; Express Tricot, 54867; and N.Y. Jeans, 23243.
