Man dies from gunshot wound

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Police say a man has died due to injuries from a gunshot wound stemming from an altercation.

Portland police say 45-year-old Jack Wilson died Tuesday night from a June 26 shooting on Oxford Street.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner says that Wilson died from trauma received from the gunshot.

Wilson’s death has been ruled a homicide.

Police have said an officer was in the area the night of the shooting when he saw the altercation and heard the sound of gunfire. He ran to the area and rendered aid to the 45-year-old man. The victim was taken to Maine Medical Center.

Maine Attorney General’s office is aiding in the investigation with the Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office.

Portland police are asking anyone with more information to contact them.
