PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) _ Quarterback Harry Leons passed for 218 yards and two touchdowns on Saturday as Eastern Washington defeated Portland State 31-14 in a Big Sky Conference football game.

Leons connected with Steve Correa on a 20-yard pass for a touchdown in the second quarter, and threw a 26-yard TD pass 15 seconds later to Tyson Knaevelsrud for the Eagles (1-0 in the Big Sky, 3-0 overall), who were ranked No. 21 in Division I-AA.

The Vikings (0-1, 0-3) rallied in the second half behind freshman quarterback Jimmy Blanchard.

Mike MacKenzie scored on a 4-yard run with 11:23 left in the third period, and Josh Atwood added the extra point to give the Eagles a 24-0 lead.

MacKenzie carried the ball 25 times for 99 yards. He came into the game in the second quarter to replace starter Rex Prescott, who had 68 yards in 13 carries, despite suffering a minor shoulder injury in the first quarter.

Leons was 15-of-23 and had one interception.

Blanchard, a redshirt freshman from Grants Pass, started the second half after Tyson Parsons was unable to move the team in the first half.

Blanchard was 14-of-24 passing for 117 yards with a 15-yard touchdown pass to Orshawante Bryant at 14:04 of the fourth quarter.

Charles Dunn, another redshirt freshman, carried the ball 20 times for 122 yards and scored on a 1-yard run with 11:04 left in the game.
