ISLAND PARK, N.Y. (AP) _ Two 13-year-old boys were critically injured Tuesday while skateboarding across railroad tracks.

Christopher Cavanaugh and Max Mooney, both from Long Beach, were struck by a Long Island Rail Road equipment train as they skateboarded through closed crossing gates and across the train tracks, said Detective Lawrence Stevens, of the Nassau County Police Department.

Both teenagers were airlifted from the location. Both were listed in critical condition, Stevens said.
