Hamill Stars in Las Vegas Show
LAS VEGAS (AP) _ More ice, please, for skating champ Dorothy Hamill.
Hamill, the 1976 Olympic gold medalist, said she’s excited about her first venture in a flashy Las Vegas production show but she’d prefer a little more ice.
As the star of the long-running show ``Enter the Night″ at the Stardust Hotel-Casino, the ice on which she skates _ 15 feet by 30 feet _ is a fraction the size of most practice and pro rinks.
``It’s the smallest area I’ve ever skated,″ Hamill said. ``There’s not enough room to get up enough speed to make any jumps. I kind of miss the jumps.″
Hamill, 41, was a crowd-pleaser anyway, winning applause for her graceful maneuvers and ``Hamill Camel″ spins in her debut Monday evening.
