Lady T-birds fall 6-0
BULLHEAD CITY — The Lady Shamrocks showed why they placed second in the Arizona Interscholastic Association 3A classification last season.
Even though the score was tied 0-0 for the first 29 minutes, the Lady Shamrocks were pressuring the Lady T-birds for most of the first half before the dam burst and Yuma Catholic High School went on to win 6-0 at Mohave High School on Tuesday night.
The AIA 3A Northwest Region Shamrocks broke the ice against the AIA 4A Grand Canyon Region T-birds when Isela Estrada’s unassisted goal made it 1-0 during the 29th minute.
Victoria Diaz’s goal off a free kick from 25 yards to the left of Mohave keeper Megan Krall found the upper, short-hand side between the crossbar and the post, which made it 2-0. Estrada’s goal beat Krall in pretty much the same place as Diaz’s.
The Shamrocks wasted little time going ahead 3-0 in the second half when Ariana Leamons scored off an assist from Cazzia Salgado during the 45th minute.
Natalie Camarena’s goal off an assist from Estrada made it 4-0 during the 61st minute.
Leamons scored off a rebound off her own penalty kick when her shot hit the post to the left of Krall before she scooped it up and made it 5-0 during the 65th minute.
Camarena scored off an assist from Katie McCardle, which made it 6-0 during the 78th minute.
Mohave’s record dropped to 7-4-1 overall, according to MaxPreps. The Shamrocks are 11-1, 3-0.
