If this huge sum is appropriated — and road enthusiasts everywhere hope it will be — New Mexico would receive approximately $6,000,000 for roads.
Dec. 27, 1968: On the eve of his original execution date, Riley Ivan Gillihan sits in his cell on Death Row at the penitentiary near Santa Fe, awaiting the decision of the state Supreme Court regarding his appeal. Gillihan will die in the small lonely chamber at the northeast corner of the prison Saturday. His execution has been stayed pending the outcome of his appeal to the Supreme Court, automatic where the death penalty is involved.
