Ind. Teen Charged in Deadly Car Crash
JASPER, Ind. (AP) _ An 18-year-old was charged with reckless homicide after authorities said he crashed a pickup into a tree while under the influence of marijuana, killing his 16-year-old sister and two other teens.
Tyler Messmer of Ferdinand was being held without bond on three counts of reckless homicide at the Dubois County jail Wednesday.
Authorities said Messmer was under the influence of marijuana on June 19 when he tried to pass another vehicle at high speed.
Messmer’s 16-year-old sister, Sarah, was killed while riding in the rear seat of the truck along with Tiffany Adkins, 17, and her 16-year-old sister, Brittany. Tyler Messmer and Michael Friedel, 18, were injured in the crash.
