Marshall Softball Player Found Dead
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) _ A Marshall softball player committed suicide in her team’s locker room, the school said Thursday.
The body of Dana Marie Black, 19, of Rancho Cucamanga, Calif., was found by another student on Wednesday night. She apparently had been dead for no longer than an hour, according to Marshall spokesman Dave Wellman said. Wellman would not say how she killed herself.
Black, a shortstop, was a sophomore majoring in criminal justice, according to her biography on the Marshall Web site.
She earned four letters and was selected the honor roll all four years at Alta Loma High School in California. She was an all-conference player from 1998 to 2000.
