A Saturday morning shooting that left a man dead was a suicide, the Allen County coroner ruled Monday.

The victim died from a gunshot wound to the head, the coroner said. He was 22.

Authorities were called to the 1000 block of High Street just before 4 a.m. The man was found in a yard, the coroner said, noting he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Stabbing victim remains critical

A Fort Wayne man remained in critical condition Monday after being stabbed Saturday night in the 2500 block of Lillie Street, police said.

Police responded to a call of a man being shot and lying on the ground.

When police arrived, however, they found Bryant Dewayne Lawrence, 45, with multiple stab wounds, according to a police report.

Lawrence was taken to a hospital in serious condition but was later downgraded to critical.

The stabbing remains under investigation and detectives are asking anyone with information to call the Fort Wayne Police Department at 427-1222 or Crime Stoppers at 436-7867.
