Madison officer suffers hand injury breaking up fight at West High School

A Madison police officer suffered a hand injury Monday morning while breaking up a fight between three girls at Madison West High School.

The fight broke out around 10 a.m., police said. West is located at 30 Ash Street.

Police said the fight was over a relationship issue. The girls involved in the fight were arrested.

The education resource police officer was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

There was no threat to the school. Two police officers will be stationed at the school the rest of the school day, WKOW said.

The fight comes on the heels of two shooting incidents near Madison La Follette High School over the past two weeks.
