Marlins Claim Pitcher Edmonson

MIAMI (AP) _ The latest rookie to join the Florida Marlins’ pitching staff will be right-hander Brian Edmonson, claimed off waivers Thursday from the Atlanta Braves.

Edmondson, 25, will be activated before Friday’s game against the New York Yankees.

The Marlins have already used 13 rookie pitchers this season, including eight now on their roster.

Edmondson had an 0-1 record with a 4.32 ERA in 10 games for Atlanta this season. He has also pitched in the Detroit Tigers’ and New York Mets’ organizations.

The Californian has a 52-48 minor-league record in 197 games, including 128 starts.
