Ohio Matters Election minisode - What’s going on in the race for Senate and governor

CLEVELAND, Ohio – It’s past Labor Day, and that means the midterm election season is in full swing.

With the uptick in campaigning, the Ohio Matters podcast is bringing listeners a new kind of experience. While in-depth interviews will still be the primary focus of the podcast, cleveland.com political reporters Andrew Tobias and Seth Richardson will provide political analysis on a consistent basis.

This week, Tobias and Richardson break down the state of play in the race for Senate between incumbent Democratic U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown and Republican U.S. Rep. Jim Renacci. While Brown has had a comfortable lead in polling thus far, a recently released survey from a liberal think tank showed a close race.

Also in this week’s episode, a look at where the contest to succeed term limited Ohio Gov. John Kasich currently sits. Republican Attorney General Mike DeWine has been on the attack, but Democratic Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Ex-director Richard Cordray has a friend coming in to help him in President Barack Obama.

Plus, a discussion on Cordray’s love for basketball – and if he’s any good on the court.

Check out past episodes of Ohio Matters, the cleveland.com politics podcast, including full-length interviews with Brown, DeWine and Cordray.
