Salvation Army will accept applications for Christmas assistance for four days in October
In 2017, the Salvation Army of Aiken provided toys to approximately 1,500 children from more than 600 families for Christmas.
Requests for holiday assistance this year will be accepted from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 8 and 9.
They also will be accepted from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. on Oct. 10 and 11.
Applicants should come to the Salvation Army’s headquarters at 322 Gayle Ave.
The program is for children who are 12 years of age as of Dec. 25 or younger.
Applicants must have primary custody of the youngsters that will receive assistance.
Applicants also need to bring the following information with them:
• A government-issued photo ID such as a driver’s license, identification card or passport
• Proof of all income
• Proof of all expenses
• Their children’s birth certificates
In addition, applicants will be asked for information about their youngsters’ clothing sizes and the kinds of toys the children want.
Only one application per household will be accepted, and only one applicant per household will be allowed inside the Salvation Army’s headquarters because of space limitations.
However, any applicant needing a translator can be accompanied by person able to provide that service if they are 13 years of age or older.
