Pedestrian struck and killed on Boston street
BOSTON (AP) — Police say a pedestrian has been struck and killed on a busy Boston street.
The woman was struck just before 8 a.m. Monday on the Massachusetts Avenue Connector at Melnea Cass Boulevard. She was taken to Boston Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
The driver, a 34-year-old North Carolina man, stayed at the scene. He was also taken to the hospital for an evaluation. His car had a cracked windshield.
No names were released and there was no word on charges.
A portion of Massachusetts Avenue was closed and state police closed the ramp to Mass. Ave. from Interstate 93 southbound, and the ramp from Frontage Road to Mass. Ave., leading to traffic backups near the end of the morning commute.
