Students pitch ideas to Ludington city officials
A class of Ludington High School seniors presented their five ideas to engage teens more in the community before a panel of City of Ludington officials Friday.
The 22 students from teacher Melissa Russell’s research and technical writing class met in the high school library with Ludington Mayor Steve Miller, City Manager Mitch Foster, Councilor Brandy Miller, Community Development Director Heather Tykoski and Jen Tooman, Downtown Development Authority marketing and communications director.
Russell said the impetus for the assignment was Tykoski challenging the class.
“She came to us with the question, ‘How do we get teens more involved in the community?’ and so we put this project-based learning unit into this curriculum to see if students could solve that problem,” Russell explained.
