Tequila stolen from liquor store in break-in; male shoplifts merchandise from CVS: Berea police blotter

Breaking & entering, West Bagley Road: Two cases of Patron tequila were stolen at about 8 a.m. Jan. 5 from Ross Wine & Liquor, 360 West Bagley.

Someone broke into the front door of the business to get inside. The break-in immediately set off alarms. Police arrived and searched the building, but no one was inside.

Police said the liquor store has been the victim of several past break-ins. The most frequent item stolen has been Petron Tequila. Police obtained photos of the crime scene from nearby surveillance cameras.

Theft, West Bagley Road: An unidentified male stole two bags of merchandise at about 8:30 p.m. Jan. 3 from CVS Pharmacy, 212 West Bagley.

Security video showed the male walk into the store at about 8 p.m. He filled two large Hallmark giftbags with merchandise and set them down at the end of an aisle near the exit door. The male then conversed with a CVS worker, telling her he saw a woman stealing items in the store.

The male looked around the store, then left with the merchandise without paying for it. He climbed into a vehicle that had just pulled up to the store’s entrance, and the vehicle drove away. Police have pictures of the male.

Operating a vehicle under the influence, Prospect Street: A Berea man, 34, was arrested at about 10:45 p.m. Jan. 4 after police caught him driving without headlights on West Bridge Street.

Police stopped the man’s car after it had turned onto Prospect. The inside of the car smelled like alcohol. The man failed field sobriety tests.

Theft, Baker Street: A mountain bike was stolen between 12:30-12:45 p.m. from outside St. Mary Catholic School, 265 Baker.

The victim said he had left the bike unlocked near the school playground while he walked to Marc’s Deeper Discount Store to use the restroom. When he returned, the bike was gone.
